About The Game

Modern Naval Warfare is a hardcore tactical submarine simulator developed by Wave Ops, putting you in command of modern nuclear submarines, primarily the Virginia-class (Blocks I-IV). Set against the backdrop of the tense geopolitical situation in the South China Sea, the game features an 18 mission techno-thriller campaign, including anti-submarine warfare, convoy hunting, special forces landings, and espionage operations. The simulator excels in its meticulous attention to detail, utilizing real-world GIS data, physically based rendering with volumetric clouds and dynamic weather, and fully interactive 3D submarine interiors with control panels.

Combat is built around complex acoustic warfare, where you'll use real-time 3D sound propagation, FFT signal analysis for narrowband and LOFAR applications, and authentic sonar systems to hunt or evade enemies in the silent depths. The physics engine calculates everything from hydrodynamic forces and weapon trajectories to volumetric flooding and material stress under pressure. You'll manage multiple crew stations, including piloting, sonar, fire control with target motion analysis, and electronic warfare systems, while simultaneously launching torpedoes, multistage missiles, and countermeasures.

The game includes simulated military-grade sensors, including radar, sonar, and optical-infrared systems, as well as navigation instruments such as inertial navigation systems (INS), GPS, and DSMAC for precision strikes. Whether operating solo or as part of a strike team, you'll engage both military and civilian platforms, displayed as digital twins with traffic supported by GIS-AIS systems. A training sequence and mission editor complete the package for those who want to master the systems or create their own scenarios.
