Backrooms Lost Runners is a co-op survival horror game where teamwork is the only way to survive endless, terrifying corridors. Exploring a single, intricately interwoven location completely replaces the traditional division into separate levels. The logic of the familiar world is disrupted by spatial anomalies, including zero-gravity zones and shifting walls. Searching abandoned shelters allows you to collect recordings of past victims, reconstructing the chronology of the disaster. A solo playthrough increases the difficulty, turning solving codes into a daunting challenge.

Collaboration between squad members of 2 or 4 directly influences the behavior of hostile entities. Sensitive monsters detect every sound, as in Backrooms Lost Runners, a microphone constantly broadcasts sounds to the surrounding environment. In addition to external threats, the protagonists face the fading of sanity in the darkness. Rare sources of warmth and bright electric light help prolong the protagonists' stable mental state. Sharing found provisions and equipment ensures the group's stamina is maintained.

A character's death does not end the session, but transports them to the surreal realm of the Tesseract. From this afterlife, it is possible to return to their comrades using special beacons. A typical traversal of the labyrinthine labyrinth takes between 2 and 4 hours of real time. Constant coordination via voice communication ensures traversal of the most dangerous sections. Stealth movement helps avoid direct encounters with creatures lurking in the dense darkness.
