Dolls Nest is a 3D action game where players take control of a Combat Unit in a ruined world. Gamers take control of a customizable mecha girl to explore the massive Hod factory complex. The main objective is to traverse this mechanical space and uncover the secrets hidden in its center. Moving forward depends on the ability to overcome automated opponents and obstacles in the locations.

Exploring the world in Dolls Nest takes place in the Hod territory - a vast crater filled with functioning armored vehicles. Fragments of mechanisms and damaged buildings are scattered across the landscape, creating obstacles for the gamer's unit. Survival requires finding and using resources found in this devastated world. Found parts and items become key to overcoming various challenges. Gameplay in combat requires the gamer to accurately calculate resources. Using dodges and weapons depletes the energy supply of the Combat Unit.

Maintaining sufficient energy is important, as running out of it during a collision leaves the machine defenseless. Defeating key enemies opens up access to previously unexplored sectors of the Hod, which sometimes triggers unforeseen events. The Combat Unit platform allows for deep customization by swapping out components. Participants can swap out parts of their mecha girl to adjust her capabilities. Matching parts to the current situation is a strategic element that affects performance against certain enemies or terrain.
