Trench Tales is a game project that introduces gamers to a dark alternate reality, the events of which take place between the First and Second World Wars. You take control of a lone fighter, transferred to a strange dimension of Verdun by unknown forces. The story is conducted in the third person, focusing on the action in this unfavorable environment with elements of horror and dark fantasy. The purpose of your arrival is to find out the circumstances of the call and confront the entities responsible for your appearance.

Moving around the hostile terrain becomes the key to survival. The gameplay in Trench Tales is built around tactical combat clashes using weapons of the corresponding historical period and supernatural abilities of magical origin. The available arsenal can be modified and improved, selecting tools to gain strategic superiority over opponents. The journey takes you through a variety of gothic-influenced locations: narrow trenches, imposing stone castles, and boggy, dangerous swamps.

Progressing through Verdun requires careful management of the equipment provided and the special skills that are innate to you. Successful progress depends on mastering these interconnected combat mechanics. Combat forms the core of the action, pitting the character against numerous enemies, such as undead soldiers and powerful warlords commanding demonic creatures. The game includes a system where failure, especially the death of the hero, entails significant penalties that affect progress and the collection of important currency.
