Lotus Lantern Rescue Mother is a top-down action role-playing game inspired by Chinese mythology, namely the legend of the magical lotus lantern. Players will follow the journey of Chen Xiang as he rescues his mother, Sanshenmu, after learning martial arts skills from the monkey king Sun Wukong. Chenxiang collects magical artifacts that can be upgraded and endowed with elemental buffs, and uses them in combination with skills developed from various martial arts schools to fight enemies. As in Hades, the cast of characters is partially composed of mythological characters drawn from Chinese legends, such as Nezha, Princess Iron Fan, Erlan Shen, and the Eight Immortals. As in Hades, Chen Xiang’s quest takes place in multiple runs, determined by randomized elements.
