Using mako — the life energy of the planet — as a source of fuel, Shinra threatens the very essence of the world’s existence. But the resistance is growing, and our heroes become part of this fight.

At the same time, Sephiroth — a fallen hero turned into the embodiment of evil — reappears on the horizon. In pursuit of him, Cloud and his companions will visit many familiar locations, including the Forgotten Capital, where the fate of many heroes will be at stake. Meanwhile, SOLDIER 1st Class Zack Fair makes a desperate attempt to cross the wasteland leading to Midgar. His companion, stricken with severe mako poisoning, is in critical condition.
