The Red Lantern — is a roguelike survival adventure with a strong story focus. It is the debut game of the independent Timberline Studio team, which also released the piece on their own. The main character of The Red Lantern is a man with no name, deciding to change something in his life. So he makes a radical decision he and his five dogs travel to Alaska to spend time in the wild. She hopes that this will help her not only look at her life from a different angle, but also fulfill her dreams of winning the dog sled race.

The Red Lantern is almost your typical survival adventure, although the gameplay is more story-driven than typical of the genre. We travel by sleigh through snowy landscapes, and our journey is interrupted by one of hundreds of random events. This can be a meeting with a representative of the local fauna or a decision in which direction to move. In each of these cases, we will be given a choice of how we want to act for example, observe the given animal, ignore it, or hunt it.

The latter option is risky, since the heroine has only a few rounds at her disposal, and in the world of Red Lantern, you will not find ammunition that is distributed in bulk from typical survivors. However, in the wild, we find other resources needed to light a fire or feed ourselves or our dogs. Taking care of them is very important our pupils are worth not only meat, but also tenderness. The Red Lantern does not allow you to play with others. The game is completely focused on a single-player mode with random gameplay and constant death, bringing the gameplay closer to the production of roguelites. This makes the headline worth repeating more than once.
