Tandem A Tale of Shadows — combines platformer elements with puzzle-like features in an original way. The game was developed by Monochrome Paris and released by Hatinh Interactive. Tandem A Tale of Shadows takes us on a journey to Victorian London. The main character of the game is a girl named Emma. The main character finds himself in the estate of Henry and Margaret Kane, famous English illusionists, whose ten-year-old son Thomas disappeared under mysterious circumstances. The investigation, led by Scotland Yard, has stalled, so our protege decides to conduct his own investigation. Trying to unravel the mystery of the disappearance of her peer, Emma must explore the gloomy mansion of the 19th century and face the difficulties and dangers that await her there.

Fortunately, the girl does not need to go alone, because she is accompanied by the bear Fenton, who helps her solve numerous puzzles. In Tandem A Tale of Shadows, we get two playable characters that we can freely switch between. Controlling Emma, we observe the action from top to bottom, controlling Fenton, we observe his actions from the side. Emma can move elements of the environment and hold a brightly lit lamp. Fenton, on the other hand, doesn’t care about gravity or the laws of physics, which allows him to run through both walls and shadows. Together, the heroes explore 45 different locations full of puzzles, to solve which they need to work together. By moving objects and positioning herself to create the correct shadow pattern, Emma allows Fenton to get to another inaccessible place.

There, in turn, a lever may await him, the use of which will open his comrade and, accordingly, himself on a further path. From time to time, the unusual duo is interrupted by enemies led by bosses guarding access to further parts of Kane’s mansion. To defeat them, Emma and Fenton must act quickly and be resourceful. The graphics in Tandem A Tale of Shadows highlight the differences between the characters. When you control Emma, everything is colorful and pleasing to the eye, and in the role of Fenton you see the world in shades of gray, like in the iconic Limbaugh.
