Doki Doki Literature Club Plus — is a visual novel fueled by the tradition of dating simulators and psychological horror. The game is a paid upgraded version of the free 2017 Doki Doki Literature Club. We play again as a teenager who joins the school literature club in search of love. Like its predecessor, the game is intended for adults only and is not recommended for players with weak nerves. The general outline of the plot remains unchanged. The main character is a high school student, whose name we give ourselves. He enters a school literary circle of four girls.

These are Sayori, his cheerful childhood friend, Natsuki, who plays the role of a typical tsundere, the withdrawn and shy Yuri, and Monika, the president of the club. The main character spends time with girls, writes poetry with them, gets closer to them. Over time, however, the tone of the story changes dramatically, and it turns out that the literary club is hiding a dark secret. DDLC Plus further expands the game with six new sideplots, bringing the player closer to the characters of the heroines. In terms of gameplay, DDLC Plus is a classic visual novel based primarily on reading dialogues and choosing answers. A unique element of the game is a mini-game of writing poetry. We choose certain phrases to make our poems more accessible to one of the club members. The further course of the story depends on our verses and the decisions we make.

The reward for progressing in the game is the illustrations that we discover while spending time with the girls. As a result of the addition of side stories, the number of illustrations available has increased dramatically. A plus! adds a music player to the game, which allows us to create compilations of available in-game songs and listen to them in the background as we play. The visuals consist of hand-drawn backgrounds and character sprites. We will also often look at special artwork received for progressing the game. Plus ups the resolution of the game, allowing us to enjoy 1080p gaming. The game has 26 music tracks, which is twice as many as in the original.
