El Shaddai ASCENSION OF THE METATRON — is an action game that tells a story based on the Flood described in the Book of Enoch. You will take on the role of Enoch, an ordinary man chosen by God as a scribe in heaven. You have to save humanity by going on a journey around the world in search of fallen angels. As the story goes, long ago God commissioned the angels to watch over the earthly world. Some of them began to admire humanity and committed the most serious crime and descended to earth. Outraged by this behavior, God wanted to send the Great Flood. Enoch intervened and persuaded him to refuse such a punishment if he found the fallen angels.
Together with Enoch, God sends several angels among them Lufitzer to help him. Sawaki Takeyasu has acted as the artist and character designer for Devil May Cry, Okami, and Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. During the development of El Shaddai Ascension of the Metatron, he served as the project creation leader. The game’s plot is inspired by the apocryphal Ethiopian Book of Enoch. The main character, named Enoch, is looking for seven fallen angels to prevent the destruction of humanity by the great flood. On the adventure, he is assisted by the guardian angel Lucifel, who is responsible for protecting the world along with the four archangels Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel. The gameplay combines mechanics in 2D and 3D space, as well as a system called the Zero HUD Player Feedback System, which uses visual and audio cues to allow players to track their current status without extraneous indicators.
