Shadows of Forbidden Gods  — a strategy game in which you try to bring about an apocalypse by moving secret agents through a complex fantasy world to implement a wide range of schemes, conspiracies and rituals. You start the game by bribing guards and infiltrating small farming communities and gradually build up your strength until you trigger an ice age, wipe out entire nations with plague, summon volcanoes and command the serpent gods that devour cities. You play as agents and corrupted heroes against the forces of good, rulers and heroes of humanity, led by the Chosen One. They may be stronger than you and can easily destroy your agents, but you have the advantage of secrecy, and people are easy to turn against each other.

Why wage a war against a united empire when you can break it apart by civil war and clean up the debris with hordes of orcs. Sophisticated artificial intelligence controls the forces of good, and you can, if you want, play with your mind. Rulers can be driven to an obsession with gold, which will cause their people to rebel in anger over insane taxes, dukes can be tricked into turning away from their kings with the help of a neatly placed personal item implying a scandal at court, heroes can be driven insane by crazy tales read in The Laughing King’s Tome, and the shadow can corrupt your enemies to the point where they start funding your agents instead of their own people. Designed to be a highly flexible apocalypse simulator, Shadows of Forbidden Gods allows you to mix and match your toolboxes with unique agents and effects, while human forces react dynamically.
