The main character is Corvo Attano — the mercenary of Queen Jessamine Caldwin (he is her lover and father Emily Coldwin). Returning from the next mission, the protagonist witnesses the murder of the queen and the abduction of the only heiress to the throne. Evil tongues accuse of the incident none other than Corvo himself. Actually, that’s why he got the nickname of the Royal Assassin.

Fortunately, surrounded by Corvo are people who believe in his innocence. They help him gather his strength, after which the protagonist goes to Danwall in search of Emily. From this very moment, the further development of events falls on the player’s shoulders, since the latter will be offered several options as you progress in what can be done in a particular situation.

Before you take an action, think twice about the consequences that your action will entail. Say, in a mission where you need to eliminate one of the henchmen of the antagonist, you can go the other way and not kill the target. However, it is worth noting that the player has his arms completely and completely untied, so he can find his own unique style of passing, for which the game will only encourage. For example, you can completely go through Dysonoredos in pacifist mode, without killing anyone at all, but you can choose the path of a bloodthirsty avenger and eliminate everyone and anyone who gets in your way.
