Grimstar Crystals are the New Oil is a real-time strategy game about an energy crisis and the exploitation of an alien planet. It features a single-player campaign that tells the story of the protagonist, who is forced to take on the responsibilities of his dead brother and work for a ruthless corporation. The game features a level-up system that allows the user to unlock new units, buildings, and upgrades after completing each mission. The game takes place in the distant world of Grimstar, which is rich in a new type of natural energy resource crystals. The user must mine these crystals as efficiently as possible, while facing various difficulties and dangers. There are three planets to choose from, each with its own vegetation and special characteristics. The missions on each planet have their own victory conditions, such as mining all the crystals or collecting alien artifacts. There are also team missions that require the gamer to complete certain tasks. Grimstar Crystals are the New Oil is known for its strategic and difficult challenges that it throws at users.
