GOG version of PC game Tainted Grail — is a digital version of a challenging board game set in a gloomy fantasy world inspired by the legends of King Arthur. The board game was developed by Awaken Realms from Poland and was funded as part of the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. Tainted Grail in the game we are transported into a dark fantasy world. Humanity has gained control against the will of the gods, and now they have to pay the price a mysterious force called Virdness is coming, and its touch makes the earth die piece by piece just to be reborn.

The vast plot of the game Tainted Grail is non-linear in nature, it consists of a series of chapter stories with a total length of over 100 thousand words. The script was written by Krzysztof Piskorski, a science fiction writer. The game begins with the choice of a hero — each of them is a special character, with his own story, a unique skill that gives an advantage over others, and a disadvantage that determines how to play. Next, the player spends consecutive rounds, crossing the board and exploring the secrets of the earth. With each step, players have to deal with different events. Often there is more than one solution, for example, to participate or to avoid a fight. Many times, players also have to make difficult choices that shape the world and can have consequences for the rest of the game.

As you progress through the game, traveling around the map becomes more and more difficult — and all this is due to the Menhirs of the Sentinels, who are weaker and, as a result, the Virdnes more and more affects the earth. Traveling becomes a mystery — players must plan the next steps, trying to avoid places where they should not be. However, the hero is not helpless while fighting and solving many problems, he gradually develops his skills and gets new items. Development occurs along several axes of opposite signs, for example, Empathy versus Aggression or Practicality versus Spirituality. Our choices and behavior determine what opportunities we will have access to. Tainted Grail is a digital board game, so its graphic design consists mainly of a user interface and two-dimensional illustrations. What deserves attention is a very interesting, spectacular, but at the same time gloomy art style, which may resemble, among other things, the famous Warhammer universe a fantastic option, not a fantastic one.
