Echo Generation — is an action-adventure game with turn-based combat and a third-person perspective. Summer 1993. You and your friends set off to investigate the source of a mysterious accident. You have to complete quests, fight monsters and level up your party to save your hometown from danger in a heroic tale of children’s adventure. You keep playing for the sake of gameplay and visual style. There are no problems with the second one: the locations are diverse and created with great attention to detail. The camera angles are sometimes breathtaking, and the bosses are especially beautiful. Large, honestly detailed creatures or mechanisms do not inspire fear, but they look great.

Yes, and ordinary opponents look good. But the gameplay is disappointing in that the testers of Echo Generation seem to have turned a blind eye to many problems. Structurally, this is an adventure where you walk from one location to another, collect items, enter buildings and interact with characters. Heroes are often required to bring one thing in exchange for another. But this is not done as primitively as in the recent The Good Life things fall out of bosses or lie in unexplored locations, and do not grind in an empty open world.

The inconvenience lies in the fact that there is no list of tasks here, some plot assignments are vague, and they did not add a map and fast travel. By the second half of the game, you will open so many locations that it will become more and more difficult to determine where to go and what for. The developers have added a couple of opportunities to shorten the path, but to get to them, you still need to walk a rather long distance — even when the character is running, you waste a lot of time.

It’s a pity, because just being in the world of Echo Generation is pleasant largely due to the graphics and stylish design of locations. It is interesting to interact with objects, read funny comments from teenagers, and look for collectibles there is little point in them more on that later, but this is the case when you just like to do research and get at least something for it.
