Windmills is a metroidvania with retro 2D pixel art. This action-platformer hybrid uses traditional side-scrolling. The gameplay is focused on dynamic battles with enemies, although the exploration of locations is also present. The game also features NPC conversations and mission chains. The combat system is based on deflecting and deflecting enemy attacks, as well as suppressing opponents and dodging their attacks. Time plays an important role. As a reward for the correct and timely reaction, the warrior receives special abilities for a short time. For example, if he successfully parries an opponent’s lightning strike, he can add electricity damage to his attacks for a while.

The fighter’s moveset expands. Set in a dark fantasy world, the story of Windmills is presented in an unconventional way. The story is told from the point of view of the protagonist, who remembers the old days. At the same time, he himself is an unreliable narrator as his memory begins to fail him. Depending on the player’s actions, the memories of the protagonist also change. Some events are presented in a distorted way, while others pass him by completely. This makes the indie project replayable. In this game, the player controls a witch hunter who is the last of the Crimson Cloaks. He travels through the monster-infested magical kingdom, repairing portals and destroying monsters.
