Double Dragon Gaiden Rise of the Dragons is a roguelike beat’em up spin-off of the cult series that began in 1987. It was developed by Secret Base and published by Modus Games, which licensed the Double Dragon franchise from Arc System Works. Double Dragon Gaiden Rise of the Dragons is set in an alternate 1990s New York City. The metropolis was destroyed as a result of a nuclear war. Survivors struggle among the ruins, engulfed in unrest, crime and chaos. The PCs, trying to rectify the situation, declare war on the four gangs terrorizing the city ruins. Double Dragon Gaiden Rise of the Dragons is a side scroller. The game features a wide roster of characters with different playstyles. It includes returning brothers Billy and Jimmy Lee, Marian a firearms specialist and Uncle Mateen.

The player will have to go through various locations, destroying hordes of enemies, as well as much more powerful gang leaders. Before starting the game, we must choose two characters. Can switch between them at will, use their strengths and combine their attacks into deadly combos. The order we choose to complete the missions affects their duration, the number of enemies and the overall difficulty. The game has an optional permadeath feature. The destruction of enemies, we get money, and for the finishing blows, which destroy many enemies at once, we get health. After completing each stage, we can spend money on temporary upgrades or tokens, which can be used to permanently unlock new characters, various bonuses, or spent on continuation if the game ends. Double Dragon Gaiden Rise of the Dragons can be played in single player mode, but you can only reach full potential in co-op mode.
