In Ways of Alchemy, the player begins their journey in a secluded hut, where they use card mechanics to create powerful elixirs from a variety of ingredients. The ultimate goal is to build an entire alchemical empire from a humble hovel, using intelligence and tactical thinking. To do this, they will have to search for ancient recipes and recruit adventurers, all the while avoiding the close attention of the Inquisition.

Ways of Alchemy offers a variable potion-making system, including more than 100 ingredients related to the 5 pillars of reality. You can follow the proven instructions from the grimoire for a predictable result, or take risks, experimenting for more powerful effects. Progress involves expanding an inherited home into a thriving settlement, which requires competent management of resources and personnel. Increasing influence inevitably attracts the attention of local authorities, forcing you to face the consequences of your own ambitions.

Exploring the world is done by sending mercenaries on 24 dangerous expeditions across 5 different regions, having previously supplied them with the necessary potions. Successful forays are rewarded with unique treasures, of which there are more than 70 in the project, including powerful artifacts and lost tomes. Character development opens 15 specializations, allowing you to focus on classical alchemy or delve into forbidden practices such as necromancy and working with flesh. Each decision in this game brings you closer to one of 13 endings on the way to completing the Great Work.
