The Academy The First Riddle — is based on the genre of numerous puzzles and revealing the secrets of the school, which we will visit as the main character. All this does not shy away from the elements of science fiction, and the graphics are designed in the style of drawing, a bit like the Sims series. For game developers, Pine Studio is the biggest game released so far. Their previous games were based on a similar pattern, but they also have experience in a darker climate, which they proved with SEUM Speedrunners from Hell.

The story of the game tells about the many secrets hidden by Arbor Academy, an elite school for outstanding students. Some of them relate to very mundane issues, the main character will also find those that many would prefer to keep secret. This will make the upcoming semester one of the most significant in the history of the academy, founded 500 years ago by Baron Alistair Holloway. The decision to finance its construction was made after the death of his wife Leticia, in addition to studying, which was the greatest love of his life. Only those who can match the baron’s love of learning are accepted into the ranks of students, which distinguishes the school from other similar institutions. As the plot develops, we will meet exceptional characters of a different nature. Our actions that will determine their positive or negative attitude towards the hero, which can help him or prevent him from revealing the secrets of school.

About 200 more or less complex puzzles are available in the game. Some of them are implemented as mini-games, often inspired by traditional games such as circles and crosses, chess or dominoes, and some require the skillful use of the environment for our purposes. During the game, we have to face the dangers associated with harmful gases, flooded rooms which we can only use with special diving equipment or mysterious devices created by generations of people associated with the academy. When working with some of them, you should be very careful their actions may have seemingly supernatural consequences that will not necessarily have a positive impact on our actions.

We move freely between different sectors of the academy. There are indoor facilities, such as a library, classrooms or workshops for experiments, as well as outdoor spaces, that is, a membrane and parks, which also serve as a school gym. Most of the time we observe the action from the perspective of a third party, but when solving some puzzles, the view may change.
