The Magnificent Trufflepigs — is a story-driven first-person adventure game. This is the debut production of Studio Thunkd. The lead designer was Andrew Crowshaw, a developer who held the same position in the production of Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture. In the game we play as a man named Adam, who, after many years of absence, returns to the small English village of Stanning, where he grew up. There he meets a woman named Beth. She will soon become the CEO of the largest company in the region, but before that she wants to close the business since childhood. When she was a girl, she found an earring on a local farm with a metal detector. This provided her with short-term fame and a decent income. However, she never managed to find a second matching earring.

Beth decides to try to find the missing treasure one last time. She needs to hurry, because the farm will be demolished by the power company in a week, and solar panels will be built in its place. Seven days is too little to search the entire territory alone, so the woman asks for help from Adam, who agrees with the proposal. The Magnificent Trufflepigs — is an adventure in which we observe the events in the first person. During the game, we explore the farm and use a metal detector to find hidden treasures. The ultimate goal is to find the earring, but along the way, we discover many other items. Most of them are underground, so we also spend a lot of time digging holes.

In fact, this whole funny treasure hunt is just an excuse to tell an interesting story. While working, Adam maintains constant contact with Beth via walkie-talkie and text messages. Thus, we gradually discover the history of the relationship between these characters and can determine their next stage. The plot is largely non-linear, and how we direct conversations will determine the story’s development. The game boasts nice-looking 3D graphics, made in a slightly cartoonish style. Its main asset is the idyllic landscapes of the British countryside.

The gorgeous truffle pigs only offer single player mode. Dialogue is a key element of the project, so the authors did not risk it and hired professionals for both roles. Adam is voiced by Arthur Darville, known for such TV shows as Doctor Who, Legends of Tomorrow or Broadchurch. Beth, on the other hand, was played by Lucy Fish among others.

How to Install the Game
