Steel Knights ARMIS plunges players into the midst of a rebellion against the Imperial Army and the Earth Federation. Players control an advanced ARMIS mech, engaging in top-down battles. Primary battles involve maneuvering through environments filled with enemy units and clashing with enemy pilots in similar vehicles. Survival in these skirmishes depends on the tactical use of the mech's abilities and skillful evasion. The conflict unfolds through a series of missions aimed at weakening the power of the ruling factions. Steel Knight's ARMIS is built on a roguelite progression. Destroying enemies earns experience points for leveling up, unlocking various upgrades for the ARMIS. This mechanic offers extensive customization options, allowing you to create a combat vehicle tailored to your playstyle.

At certain points, top-down gameplay alternates with vertically scrolling shooter stages. These gameplay changes are essential for effectively confronting powerful opponents during runs. The project's story is divided into five chapters, each told from the perspective of a new protagonist. This episodic format reveals the personal stories and motivations of individual pilots involved in the general resistance. Events and character dialogue are dynamically woven into missions, combining narrative with action. The campaign follows the fates of these heroes as they fight their way through the war and strive for their ideals and goals.
