About The Game
I tried WantamaLife. Have to say it is not what expected. Game calls itself a visual novel and life simulation, but that does not quite capture it. More like a story you help write. Setup is simple. You take control of a character and guide them through daily life. Decisions about work, relationships, hobbies. Everything you do affects your stats. Those stats then open up new story paths. Clean loop that works well.
Anime art style big part of the appeal. Characters are colorful and full of personality. They feel like they have their own lives, which makes the world feel real. Text-based parts are where game shines though. Writing is clever and often funny. Caught myself smiling at some of the dialogue. But it is not all lighthearted. Game has serious moments too. Decisions that feel genuinely tough. Remember one situation where I had to choose between helping a friend and looking after my own interests. That kind of moral choice makes the game stick with you.
Simulation side is deeper than I thought. You really have to pay attention to your stats and how they interact with the story. It is not just about clicking through text. There is strategy involved. That said, game does have a slower pace. If you need constant action, this will not be your thing. But if you appreciate good writing and character-driven stories, you will find a lot to like here.
WantamaLife feels like a passion project. Has kind care and attention to detail that you do not always see in bigger titles. Glad I gave it a shot. It might not be for everyone, but for the right person, it will be a hidden gem. You can grab the latest version of game and download it from usual places if you are curious. Just do not expect it to be like anything else you have played.
