Guardians of the Sanctree is a co-op, hand-drawn 2D adventure featuring cooperative base building, automation, exploration, and survival in the tower defense genre. Take on the role of commanders of an avian military government tasked with rebuilding the cities of Sanctree, defending against attacks from subterranean insects, and creating a solid defense. The campaign offers a variety of roles, from production line designers to elite warriors and intrepid explorers discovering underground wonders. In Sanctree, resource gathering is crucial to crafting tools, weapons, settlements.

Players use workstations or unlock advanced technologies to craft unique, upgraded items that increase survivability and allow deeper exploration of the world. Survival mechanics require hunting for food, battling subterranean creatures, and testing your strategies to determine the fate of Sanctree. Take on the role of an avian general in the ancient Sanctree, focusing on building and managing your base. They build NPC tents, lay out various routes, and strategically plan the collection, production, and distribution of resources. Designing unique production lines and using NPCs as conveyors ensures smooth operations and automation, helping players overcome various challenges along the way. Protecting the Sanctri core from relentless waves of enemies is another key aspect.
