The Caribou Trail is a first-person narrative adventure about friends from Newfoundland who set out for Gallipoli in 1915. Expecting a short campaign, they found themselves in a world of damp earth, scorched slopes, and decisions that endure. The focus is not glory but endurance, not victory but the attempt to preserve humanity amid chaos. Landing on the beach, advancing through trenches, and forays under fire everything is experienced directly. You have to cut wire, make your way forward across broken ground, and eliminate threats that prevent you from holding your position. The cramped passages are oppressive, dust settles in your lungs, and the pauses before orders become a more difficult ordeal than the battle itself. The return to camp brings no peace. Conversations around the fire are muffled, laughter cuts short, and the shadows at the edges of the light are all too clear. Superstitions begin to seem more persuasive than common sense. The choice to act decisively or to retreat affects not the outcome of the campaign, but who you'll be left with afterward.
