As a result, the company is under increasing pressure to deliver quality first-person blockbusters, with some calling the upcoming Starfield a defining release for Xbox. However, despite the comparatively low level of AAA performance, Xbox still managed to provide good value for money for gamers thanks to the Game Pass subscription and quality small releases.

Games like Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment and Immortality have been fantastic recent releases, and the recent Xbox Showcase showcased several other exciting games that could give the company the boost it needs. One such game is Clockwork Revolution, a new IP from Xbox Game Studios from inXile Entertainment. It was a surprising reveal, and fans of the hugely popular BioShock Infinite should have been especially excited for a few reasons. BioShock Infinite was set in the stunning sky city of Columbia. However, it quickly becomes clear that the peaceful, beautiful, utopian facade is a mask hiding the real dystopia. The game’s depictions of racism, religious extremism, and American exceptionalism were highly controversial, but played a role in the game’s uncomfortable setting to make it stand out strongly.

The cool mechanics seem similar to those found in the legendary «Crack in the Slab» mission in Dishonored 2 or «Effect and Cause» in Titanfall 2, which many have called an underrated masterpiece. The popularity of this feature in these games suggests that time-shifting game mechanics could have a great future in gaming if given the chance. Clockwork Revolution could be the title that finally reaches its full potential.
