STAR WARS Dark Forces Remaster is a single-player retro first-person shooter. It is the historical beginning of all shooters in the cult series about the confrontation between dark forces and the legendary Jedi. The plot tells us about the adventures of the legendary mercenary Kyle Katarn, who joined the ranks of the Rebels after betraying the Empire and the mysterious loss of his father. Now his main task is to steal the plans for the deadly Death Star superweapon and obtain useful information about the unknown dark troopers. The action builds on the events of Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope, expanding on established characters and adding to the overall story of the franchise.

At one time, the shooter created a revolution in the industry, adding the possibility of vertical camera movement, alternative shooting and multi-level locations. To complete the story, the user must shoot enemy droids, imperial officers and aliens, solve simple puzzles and move forward through branched dungeons. In total, ten types of weapons are available to gamers (laser rifles, blasters, grenades, ion cannons and mortars). On his way, the user is limited to three lives, which can only be replenished with the help of rarely found items. The story is presented through text inserts typical for the series and small animated cut scenes.
