Every Day We Fight places a group of resistance fighters in a time warp during an alien invasion. The world and its population are frozen in time, while a small squad remains active, trapped in a loop where death is not the end. Each time the team dies, time is rewinded, but the skills and knowledge they have acquired are retained across each new iteration. Players must lead these people through urban locations in real time, switching to turn-based mode for tactical skirmishes with alien forces.

The core gameplay in Every Day We Fight involves completing missions to sabotage enemy operations, such as disabling resource harvesters or eliminating occupying forces. Through these repeated encounters, ordinary civilians become skilled fighters. Equipment and weapons found in one time loop become available in the next, fundamentally changing the tactical options for future runs.

The key objective is to eliminate specific Rifter leaders, as each enemy of this rank that is defeated advances the frozen timeline and brings the conflict closer to its conclusion. The game’s combat system requires full control over each shot, with aiming through the scope to hit vulnerable areas. Ballistics take into account shooting angles and obstacles as targets try to find cover, eliminating the mechanics of random hits. Characters can also perform reflexive actions out of turn to interrupt enemy maneuvers or assist allies in eliminating enemies.
