About The Game

Astro Burn is a cute bullet hell game that casts you as a space cat smashing through Earth's orbit and then on a chaotic journey home. Developed by Beyond The Pixels, this indie action adventure game takes heavy inspiration from classic '90s games like Parodius and Popn TwinBee, combining vibrant pixel art with grueling gameplay. You'll control Astro through 10 increasingly difficult levels, dodging dense streams of projectiles and environmental hazards while collecting catnip-fueled power-ups that combine to create devastating firepower combos.

The games signature MEODOOOKEN attack functions as an anime-style finishing move, building momentum and survival to deal massive damage when fully charged. Expect absurd enemies, including mechanical pandas, opera-singing space squids, and hyperactive huskies, as well as screen-filling bosses that demand precise pattern recognition. Two-player co-op lets you team up for shared mayhem while still competing for the highest score, and multiple modes (Story and Arcade) plus difficulty settings up to EXTREME accommodate players of all skill levels.

The game features a unique 9-life system, local and Discord integrated leaderboards for both highscore and speedrunning competitions, and a replay function for each unlocked level. Despite its charming presentation, this is a tense and unforgiving shooter where survival depends on reflexes, positioning, and maintaining the pace of upgrades. Venice Bleach's synthwave soundtrack and deliberately insane enemy designs complete the experience, offering a modern take on 16-bit arcade mayhem.
