MARS 2120 takes players into the 22nd century. In the future, people made a technological breakthrough that allowed them to fly beyond the Earth. Under the leadership of the UN, an agreement was concluded on the colonization of the solar system. As a result, colonies appeared on Mars, Jupiter and Venus. One day, earthlings received an alarming message from the red planet. Space Marines were sent to help them. The plot tells about the adventures of Anna Wright, nicknamed Charlotte. This girl commands an elite squad of fighters. The heroine needs to identify the distress signal and find out the fate of the colonists. A female lieutenant can run left and right, jump, shoot, and fight. As she progresses, she gains additional skills and improves existing skills.

Colony Project Mars 2120 is a metroidvania. A hybrid of action and platformer made in 2.5D. The game has fully three-dimensional graphics, but the camera is always located on the side. The user can explore a partially open world. The map consists of different interconnected biomes. There is the Martian surface, office premises, once residential areas, caves, laboratories and other locations. Traditionally for the genre, they contain places where the user cannot immediately get to. To fix this, we need to look for new abilities. The gamer is allowed to alternate between melee and ranged combat during battles with monsters, as well as perform combos. Among the enemies there are bosses. To defeat the leaders, you need to remember their attack patterns.
