Waking Dreams is a survival horror game that combines exploration, puzzle solving, and combat. The story follows a man named Steve, who is faced with the sudden death of his wife. This event triggers severe insomnia that consumes his life and destroys his perception of reality. Due to severe sleep deprivation, the line between waking hours and nightmarish images begins to blur.

He must manage resources while moving through locations generated by his mind. The plot of the project describes the disintegration of reality for the protagonist. Days and nights blend into a single stream of consciousness, where distorted visions arise without warning. In the world of Waking Dreams, these ghosts and shadowy silhouettes haunt Steve, changing his surroundings. He finds himself trapped in an incessant nightmare - a place without the usual laws of logic.

The player must guide the protagonist through this altered state, in which nothing is what it seems. Gamers will have to confront the dangers of the environment and the entities that inhabit it. The game asks the question of what happens when a person’s most disturbing nightmares do not end upon awakening. This question forms the basis of the game, trapping Steve between two worlds. He is forced to confront the creations of his mind in an endless cycle of fighting for life. The mechanics require constant engagement in this psychological test, being part of the core gameplay.
