About The Game

Paper Animal Adventure is a simplified top-down roguelike. Its graphics combine 2D and 3D. The landscapes and buildings are three-dimensional, while the creatures and trees are flat. Because of this, they look like they were cut out of paper. Locations are procedurally generated randomly with each new run. The map is divided into cells and consists of stages. To move to the next floor, you need to find a key on the current level. Then the exit will open. Movement occurs in real time. If the player is noticed by enemies, the game will switch to a partially turn-based mode.

There are no random encounters here, battles take place immediately on the spot. PARPG is the spiritual successor of the early spin-offs about Paper Mario and the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon project. There are 6 characters to choose from. They can use different skills in battle. Some skills recharge in real time. And others become available when certain conditions are met. For example: when dealing a certain amount of damage to an enemy. These abilities can be equipped and improved. There are also passive skills. To get them, you need to find special stickers.

The video game offers 5 modes:

• Classic — playing the roguelike as the developers intended;
• Casual — an easier gameplay for those who found the first option too difficult;
• Rewind Run — a race with alternative and more difficult bosses;
• Tournament — here all users go through the same map and compete with each other for a place in the leaderboard;
• Tutorial — a detailed tutorial with several mini-maps that clearly show how the main mechanics work.
