About The Game

Slay or Fall is a text-based roguelike that flips the traditional dungeon crawler formula by putting you in the role of a Dark Lord defending against advancing heroes. You must survive a set number of events before facing a final confrontation, using magic, intrigue, and strategic commands to eliminate threats. The game features deep management mechanics, where you control four different factions in your dungeon: goblins who bring in profit and fill the coffers, loyal cultists who serve as dark mages, honor-bound lizard warriors who handle logistics, and rebellious ratcatchers whose espionage skills can be put to good use if subdued correctly. Each faction has unique characteristics and varying levels of loyalty, creating a complex political dynamic that you'll have to navigate between combat encounters.

Text events offer a variety of branching paths, with each decision having consequences that affect both the heroes and the stability of your dungeon. Combat encounters and political decisions are intertwined throughout the gameplay, requiring you to balance military strategy and faction management. The game places an emphasis on replayability through a variety of presets, different hero types, and multiple storyline options. You can defeat heroes through direct combat, starvation, corruption, morale destruction, or by sowing discord among their ranks. This casual sim combines roguelike unpredictability with strategic depth, offering a unique take on dungeon management from a villain's perspective.
