About The Game

Runeborn features turn-based combat, modeled after a slot machine. Spells are activated by spinning rune columns to match symbols along five different paylines. Successful combinations trigger attacks against demonic enemies. For increased control, players can lock up to eight individual symbols in place while the remaining reels spin, allowing for powerful combos. This mechanic underpins all tactical encounters with Malakar's forces.

Strategy in Runeborn is built on directly customizing the rune columns. The rune book is altered by adding, removing, or modifying symbols appearing on the reels. Symbols can be enhanced with amulets and auras, granting them additional effects when activated. Over 150 different artifacts introduce new variables, creating combinations that multiply damage, re-trigger symbols, or provide additional fixes for columns. These items allow for a wide range of synergistic builds.

Each run begins with a selection of starting opponents, which establishes a balance between risk and reward from the outset. Defeating challenging enemies earns players more coins, which can be spent on items and upgrades in five specialized shops. Battles with elite units and formidable bosses offer significant rewards. A wide range of artifacts, scrolls, and enemy abilities ensures that gameplay offers a new set of challenges and opportunities every time.
