This isn't a game where you're some overpowered hero mowing down monsters, you're vulnerable and outmatched which makes every encounter feel genuinely tense. The developers understood that horror works best when you're constantly on edge wondering if you should run or hide or try to fight back with whatever makeshift weapon you managed to scrounge up.
