About The Game

Underboard is a strategy puzzle game where your playing field is located beneath the table. You can't see it directly, but instead infer the pieces positions from sounds, shadows, and clues from your opponent. Every move becomes a tense analysis of fragments of information. You control invisible chess pieces, relying on memory and logic. You hear a piece slide along the wood, see its shadow cast on the edge of the table, and receive verbal hints from your opponent. Your task is to construct a precise mental picture of what's happening and anticipate your opponent's plans. It's blindfold chess, brought to an absolute, almost physical experience.

The main mode is a turn based one on one duel, where you can compete against a friend or the AI. The developers also promise a campaign with a series of unique challenges that gradually teach you new tactics and reveal the intricacies of the mechanics. Every game here is a separate story, full of guesses and bluffs. The gameplay is built on a unique mechanic of spatial imagination. You don't simply memorize positions; you learn to interpret indirect dаta: the volume of a sound indicates distance, the shape of a shadow indicates the type of piece.

Over time, you begin to feel the board with your fingertips. The sound design here is not a background, but the main instrument of the game. Each sound is carefully selected and informative. The graphics are minimalist and focus on details: the texture of wood, specks of dust in a beam of light, subtle movement. The entire visual aesthetic works to create an atmosphere of quiet, focused confrontation. It's a challenge for your mind, where the winner is not the one who calculates moves better, but the one who listens more attentively and senses the invisible more keenly.
