About The Game

Kamiwaza Way of the Thief — is a stealth action game. This is an updated version of Kamiwaza Tourai, which was released on the PlayStation 2 in 2004 and has never been released outside of Japan. Both the original and the updated version were developed by the Acquire studio, known for the Tenchu and Way of the Samurai series. The game takes place in the city of Mikado in Japan during the Edo period. We play as a thief named Ebizo who wants to steal from the rich and give to the poor. However, he left this profession for a long time after he saw his comrades kill innocent civilians. After a ten-year break in the thieves business, he took up honest work and the upbringing of a foster girl named Suzona.

One day, his adopted daughter becomes seriously ill. The cost of treatment proves beyond Ebizo is pocket, so he is forced to return to his criminal activities. Kamiwaza Way of the Thief is a classic stealth game. We are watching from a third person perspective, and our job is to steal stealthily and avoid detection. The hero is relatively weak in combat, so direct encounters are risky. On the other hand, Ebidzo is very strong physically. He can squeeze into narrow spaces, hover above the ceiling, and silently follow the backs of guards. We collect prey by automatically approaching them. Our hero starts each mission with a small sack on his back, but each item collected increases its size and weight, making it difficult to move around.

Maps provide a lot of freedom. In addition to the main goals, they are filled with optional loot that we can steal. In addition, our decisions and actions during the game determine the development of the story, ultimately leading us to one of several alternative endings. Compared to the PlayStation 2 original, Kamiwaza Way of the Thief offers vastly improved graphics. The authors increased the resolution, increased the clarity of the textures and improved the performance of the engine.
