About The Game

R-Type Dimensions EX is a collection of two games. It includes the original R-Type and its sequel. Both games are horizontal scrolling shooters, originally released in arcades in the late 1980s. The re-release features 3D graphics and a remastered soundtrack. The developers have also added local co-op, allowing two players to play on the same computer, though gamepads are required. You can disable 3D to play with the standard visual style and original soundtrack. You can switch between the old and new graphics at any time. R-Type Dimensions EX has 14 levels, each with a boss at the end.

You'll die often. In both titles, you control a spaceship and shoot enemies. The starship is destroyed with a single touch on any surface or enemy projectile. For newcomers, the creators have added an endless mode. It offers unlimited lives, the ability to choose locations, instantly respawn where you die, and slow down or speed up time. One of the hallmarks of these titles and the entire series is the ability to charge up charges. If you hold down the fire button, the ship will stop firing and instead charge up a shot. The longer you hold the button, the more powerful the resulting attack.
