Per Aspera — is a game bordering on strategy and simulation. Developed by the independent Argentinean studio Tlön Industries, based in Buenos Aires, and published by Raw Fury Games, which has a portfolio of games like Kingdom, Bad North and Whispers of a Machine. The game refers to the Latin proverb per aspera ad astra, the literal translation of which is through the thorns to the stars. The story told in Per Aspera is about an unmanned mission to Mars, whose task is to set the stage for the arrival of the first colonizers from Earth. For them to find favorable conditions for life on the Red Planet, a terraformation process is required, which has been entrusted to AMI an artificial intelligence based on the human mind belonging to the scientist in which we play a role.

The Houston team constantly monitors the progress of the mission, and it depends on our decisions how our relationship will look and how the whole project will end. At Per Aspera — we have the entire Red Planet at our disposal. Observing the globe from orbit, we acquire raw materials and erect various structures. Although initially we operate in a relatively small area, over time our base begins to grow, and with it a network of more and more advanced installations and structures, covering an ever larger area of Mars. The consequence of our actions is not only the appearance on the water in the form of rivers, lakes and seas and richer vegetation on the planet’s surface, but also a change in the composition of its atmosphere, which, if we do everything right, in the course of the project begins to resemble more and more terrestrial.

It is worth noting that the technologies that we use during the game, as well as the processes that we research on the Red Planet, were based on the concepts and research results of real space agencies and the engineers working on them. On the other hand, the appearance of Mars was mapped based on data collected by NASA. The visual effects of Per Aspera are preserved in the original style that evokes associations with topographic maps. Thanks to this, all this is transparent, which makes it easy to learn about the situation on the Red Planet.

How to Install the Game
