About The Game
Coffee Noir Business Detective Game — is a mixture of economic strategy, in which we start the coffee business, and visual novels, the plot of which resembles classic noir stories. This is the debut game by DOJI studio created in 2012. Coffee Noir is set in Neo London in an alternate year 2021. The protagonist of the game is a private detective Arthur Oliver, who, in order to solve the mystery of the disappearance of local businessman Richard Kersey, decides to act under the guise of the owner of a coffee company. Coffee Noir takes full advantage of Agatha Christie’s classic film noir and crime books. The game is a rather unusual combination of a management game, in which we spend a lot of time running a business, and a detective adventure visual novel.In the first section, we are responsible for every smallest aspect of our work, from assigning responsibilities to recruiting new contractors to sales, taking care of finances and planning a marketing campaign. The developers took care of this part of the game by hiring professional economists. The second section is a retro-futuristic visual novel, so we look at atmospheric illustrations and game scenes, talk to characters and listen to dialogues, gradually revealing fragments of greater intrigue.
The developers were inspired by classic American comics and detective stories. It was from these works that inspiration was drawn in terms of the interior design of buildings, the clothing of the characters and the small elements that create a noir atmosphere. The graphics presented in Coffee Noir are two-dimensional and preserved according to the rules of the comics. The game is fully voiced the voices of the characters are voiced by professional voice actors.
